Dr Simon White
Dr Simon White is an experienced Occupational & Environmental Physician with a unique background bringing practical experience and insights across various industries. Dr White completed a Bachelor of Applied Science degree and worked in aviation, industrial laboratories, remote mine sites, petrochemical industry, energy generation and engineering consulting before completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy/Bachelor of Exercise Science degree. During this time, Dr White gained extensive experience in return to work process and the role of early intervention and preventative solutions in the workplace. Dr White also has a special interest in functional assessments and has previously been a JobFit System assessor trainer and WorkHab assessor. Dr White was an Associate Lecturer for the University of Queensland School of Medicine and co-ordinated the Rural Health Project for medical students on their rural rotations.
After completing his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degree at the University of Queensland, Dr White also worked as an Orthopaedic Principal house officer and still assists in general Orthopaedic operations including Orthopaedic spinal surgery. Dr White has also been an Associate Lecturer for medical students in clinical hospital placements.
During his fellowship Dr White worked in and advised on many industries (domestic and abroad) including mining, health, aged care, pharmaceuticals, retail, logistics, metalliferous and precious mineral industries, manufacturing, food and beverage, farming, aviation, remote site deployment and altitude work, and port and shipping but to name a few.
Dr White is a Fellow of Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine under the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
Dr White has vast experience in the mining industries especially coal processing including open-cut, underground and processing plants. His areas of expertise are Fitness for Work assessments, Independent Medical Examinations, Health Surveillance and Permanent Impairment assessments. Having visited numerous workplace sites across multiple industries, Dr White is keen to develop stakeholder relationships by providing education and expert medical opinion to minimise risk of accidents and incidents in the workplace. He is an advocate for the AFOEM/RACP Health Benefits of Good Work campaign.
